MVLA announces use of new single sign-on platform

The Mountain View–Los Altos School District will introduce a new way for students and staff to log into online school services starting Monday, May 23. The new program, called ClassLink, will be located at login.mvla.net. It will allow users to sign into Aeries, Google Drive, Canvas and other MVLA student services with one username and password. However, users will still be able to log into platforms individually without using ClassLink.

Students can use their MVLA nine-digit ID and current email password for sign-in. As the new program is implemented, password updates will be mandatory — the link to do so is located at the aforementioned login page, and instructions are posted on the MVLA website.

Upon logging in, users will be walked through security protocols, including two-factor authentication and recovery options like an auxiliary email address or phone number, and they will then be able to access their dashboard. Students will be able to assign programs to particular courses and access digital files within the ClassLink dashboard.

Besides allowing users to log into frequently-used platforms like Google Drive and Aeries, ClassLink also integrates with Newsela, Nearpod, Zoom and other applications. Users will be able to sign in with such curriculum-based programs beginning in the next school year, while they will be able to log into other, existing school accounts when the program launches.
