This year, the Gender & Sexuality Awareness club is hosting the first-ever Pride Gala.

On Friday, June 2, the Gender and Sexuality Awareness Club (GSA) is hosting the first-ever Los Altos High School Pride Gala, which the members of GSA refer to as the “Gay-la.” This Pride Gala is meant to encourage acceptance of queer identities and foster queer joy.

“It’s about celebrating celebration,” Pride Gala co-planner senior Logan Kim said. “It’s something that I definitely would have appreciated as a freshman.”

The Gala, which will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., will include food and drinks provided by the Culinary class, in addition to a temporary tattoo station, a photobooth with photographers, music, dancing and more.

“It’s a place that people can open up and be themselves, and to show people that that’s okay,” Logan said. “Whether you’re an ally, out of the closet, or want to be out of the closet, this is an event for you.”

Tickets are five dollars and are available on the LAHS web store. Guest tickets can be purchased at the Finance Office.
