Los Altos High School’s Latino Student Union made an ofrenda (alter) this year in the student services building to celebrate Dia de los Muertos. Dia de los Muertos is an annual two-day celebration celebrated by Mexican and Cuban. People often decorate ofrendas (altars) with pictures of their loved ones and the loved one’s favorite food, drinks and flowers.
LSU also performed dances in the quad during lunch today.
“Dia de los Muertos means to remember those who have passed on and how much we care about each other, and to honor our ancestors and families in general,” said Spanish teacher Sarah Mc Elaney.
