Here’s who’s running in next school year’s LSU elections and how to vote
This week, Latino Student Union (LSU) is holding elections for the 2023–2024 school year.
Candidates are running for the positions of Club President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity Manager, Activities Commissioner and Dance Coordinator. Altogether, this team will be in charge of putting on the many events, fundraisers and meetings that LSU does throughout the year.
“The election is important because LSU is a prominent club on campus that provides a safe space for Latino students and all students at LAHS,” current LSU president and senior Karelle Bautista-Gatica said. “Picking the right people to represent our union is essential for the club’s future success. We value humble and hardworking people that are passionate about giving back.”
Next Wednesday, May 17, the running parties will present a short speech to the club and a panel of officers. After, a vote will be cast and the winners will be announced on Friday, May 19 via email.
“Anyone chosen to represent the Latino community by being an officer in LSU is someone we know has what it takes to be a leader and set an example for our fellow club members,” Karelle said.
