Girls soccer game schedule conflicts with Sadie’s Dance

By Julie Vargas

Due to scheduling complications, the girls varsity soccer team had to forgo the Sadie’s Dance on Friday, February 1st in order to participate in the game against Gunn High School. The dance was held at 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. while the game started at 6 p.m.

The Sadie’s Dance encourages students to ask whomever they would like to attend the dance with, but the soccer players had to miss out on attending the last dance of this year.

“We’re all pretty annoyed because we all bought our tickets,” junior Hannah Sukhdeo said. “Plus, it’s going to be the seniors’ first and only Sadie’s dance, and they’ve already messed up our games like a bunch of times. So the fact that we can’t go to this dance and there’s nothing we can do about it is really frustrating.”

ASB published the date of the dance after Los Altos and Gunn High School set the time and location for the soccer game.

Athletic Director Michelle Noeth and Coach Giovannoni attempted to change the game times but were unable to reschedule the game at Gunn.

This is not the first time that the soccer team experienced issues with scheduling games. When the team played against Wilcox High School on January 11th, the coaches obtained the wrong start and end times. They initially thought the game would start at 3:30 p.m, but it started at 6 p.m. Each student had to call their parents to pick them up after the game because the bus could not return to the high school.

Regardless of the difficulties, the soccer players were excited to play in the match which was one of the final league games.

Los Altos defeated the Gunn Titans, 2-1.
