The LAHS Christian Club held a Praise Night in conjunction with clubs from Gunn, Palo Alto, Mountain View and Cupertino high schools on Friday, January 28. From 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., the clubs held the night at a local church close to Palo Alto.
Originally, the event was planned to be at Palo Alto’s theater, but due to a lack of an advisor, it had to be moved.
“I was concerned [about the unavailable theater] as a Praise Leader and suddenly my friend who was the vocalist for our praise team was told by her church pastor that her church was available,” sophomore Moses Park said. “So everyone had to move to the location and we were so glad that it happened.”
About 50 people from all schools combined attended the Praise Night.
The purpose of the Praise Night was to ensure the idea of pursuit to the audience.
“It means to seek God and to encounter His love,” Moses said. “I can’t be 100 percent sure if it was accomplished but I liked how everyone worshiped at that moment we were singing praise to God.”
The presentation started off with worships performed from two different bands. Later, a pastor from Los Angeles, Yugee spoke about the importance of Christianity.
“[Yugee] spoke about how God takes what is most precious from us in order to test us and remind us to follow him no matter what,” senior Megan Mueller said. “What [Yugee] had to say really made us think about where our priorities are and what we should be doing with our lives.”
The speaker was followed by other prayers and worships, and ended with refreshments.
“The Praise Night was successful and it was really fun,” Moses said. “[Not] only did [I] enjoy the music during praise, I also enjoyed worship toward God.”
