The Los Altos High School varsity boys water polo team lost 14–6 in a match against the Los Gatos High School Wildcats on Thursday, October 6, in a league matchup.
The Eagles had a slow start, trailing the Wildcats 6–1 in the first quarter. After failing to score in the second quarter, the first half ended with a score of 9–1 as the Eagles struggled with pressure passing and playing with intensity.
“We started off pretty slow, but I’m proud of our team for fighting through,” senior Misha Golovatyi said. “We played the first half of the game pretty much neck and neck with one of the best public schools.”
Unfortunately, the game ended with a loss for the Eagles, who were unable to change the scoreboard dramatically enough during the second half.
Despite the score gap, senior Atticus Seale expresses confidence in his team’s ability to address this slow start in coming games.
“The second half of the game was definitely better,” Atticus said. “For our next league game, we’ll be ready to come out hard in the first quarter.”
“We played the number one team in the league and held our ground; this proved to us that we have so much potential and are able to win CCS,” sophomore Ferran De Witt said.
After ending their regular season with a 16–2 against the Mountain View High School Spartans, the Eagles run an overall record of 10–13 and a 6–6 league record.
The Eagles will play their next game at Gunn High School on Tuesday, October 24.
