Dear Readers,
We would like to personally welcome you all to the new and improved Talon website! This year it’s been revamped—if you’re reading this right now, then you’ve probably seen the Facebook statuses, photo highlights and daily Talon web exclusive articles.
And of course, don’t forget the Facebook like buttons that have now invaded (ahem, entered) lahstalon.org. If you haven’t, feel free to try ‘em out and click on the one beneath this very headline.
It’s been over a year since The Talon recreated this website, and as a staff we haven’t said much about what we’re doing to the site. One year ago we completely redesigned the site. Just in the last month we got a little facelift. You might have been present at Dodgeball ‘10, or maybe you check sports scores and articles daily. Maybe we are your major news source. Or maybe this is your first time visiting.
Since lahstalon.org has begun to hype up coverage, we’ve gotten an overwhelming response from readers like you. Thanks for that! From the comments to the liking, we hear your requests and that’s what we’re working on. Our current template was designed in order specifically to reflect the comments we have received.
We want everyone to contribute to the website, so our features are always oriented toward encouraging your feedback on articles, photos and the website itself!
In the next couple of weeks, we’ll be posting a new comment policy and advanced commenting abilities, more sports scores and even faster updates. There might even be a little video. So keep checking back, because there should be plenty of surprises along the way.
Of course, if you’d like to tell us more formal comments, feel free to send an email to [email protected] regarding any concerns or comments about lahstalon.org or anything school-related as well. Those may be run in our print edition (there even is one?!) as well.
We hope you have enjoyed your time here, however briefly or extensively you have gotten to know the site. Let us know what you think!
Sincerely,
The Talon’s Web Team

To take it a step further, perhaps you guys could include the embedded buttons to “share” a story on the various social networking sites.
For example, look at the buttons under the headline of this story:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/29/bob-woodward-robert-gates_n_743409.html
Huffington Post includes facebook, digg, del.icio.us, twitter, stumbleupon, and reddit “share” features. If the Talon is interested in reaching an audience beyond the LAHS community, this would be a great way to do it.
