Two nights ago, the Board of Trustees of the Mountain View Los Altos High School District (MVLA) announced that Mike Mathiesen will be replacing Joe White as Chief Business Officer (CBO). White will be retiring at the end of the school year, celebrating a successful 45 year accounting career, including 11 years as Associate Superintendent of MVLA.
Mathiesen is currently the Assistant Principal at Mountain View High School, a position he has held for the past six years. There, he manages facilities and works with the administrative team to achieve district goals such as alignment of curriculum, grading and instructional practices. He also led the school through Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation, setting long-term goals for the school.
“My goal is to meet the high standards of the district and maintain the strong fiscal stability that allows us to provide so many great programs for our students,” Mathiesen said.
For seven years prior to his administrative position, Mathiesen was a social studies teacher (Economics and World Studies) at Mountain View High School.
“The MVLA District has been my home for the past 13 years and I am excited to continue to serve the students, staff and families of the district in a new capacity,“ Mathiesen said.
