The girls volleyball team overcame its rival, Mountain View, on home court with a score of 3-0 on Wednesday, November 5. With an impressive 9-2 league record, the team hopes to progress to the league finals and win.
Before the game, the team recognized seniors Katie Tritschler, Meghan McDermott, Hanna Koehler and Michelle Albright for their unique contributions to the team. The motivation of senior night inspired the girls to play their best in their last home game of the season.
Los Altos started off strong in the first set, defeating the Spartans handedly, 25-14.
At the beginning of the second set, the Spartans fought back hard, forcing the Lady Eagles to work harder for the win. Although the Spartans nearly staged an upset this set, the Lady Eagles maintained their composure, winning 25-22.
As the third set progressed, the Lady Eagles maintained a solid lead throughout and finished the Spartans off with a final set score of 25-12.
“Overall the team played really well; a lot of our success comes from the energy we have on the court and on the bench,” sophomore Alexis Malgesini said.
After a comfortable home game win, the Eagles will play Monta Vista, a team that they defeated in three consecutive sets in their last encounter, today, November 7.
