Varsity football coach recognized by 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers awarded varsity football coach Bill Waggoner the High School Coach of the Week Award on Tuesday, November 10.

Waggoner, a Los Altos High School alumnus of the Class of 1981, said he felt “surprised and happy” when a 49ers representative telephoned him around 9:30 on Tuesday morning to tell him that he had been selected as the recipient of the award.

The award consists of a $1000 gift to the Los Altos High School football program, a $500 gift certificate, and tickets to a 49ers game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, December 27.

In addition, Waggonner was interviewed by KRON 4 sports anchor Gary Radnich, which he said was “kind of cool” for him.

Along with other coaches who won the High School Coach of the Week Award, Waggonner will attend a 49ers practice in December where he hopes to meet some of the players.
