The boys tennis team lost its match 3-4 against Saratoga High School in a heartbreaker today, April 2. This is the second time that the Eagles have played Saratoga this season, and while the Eagles were able to emerge victorious in the first match, they fell short in the second. The match between the two schools was not be decided until the final point, and this is the tennis team’s second loss of the season.
Both schools were fairly evenly matched throughout, and were tied 3-3 going into the last match. The Eagles battled hard, but Saratoga was able to hang on and narrowly clinch a 4-3 victory with their number 1 singles defeating Los Altos’ Antony Bello 10-8 in a nail-biting third set tiebreak.
Los Altos is now 8-2 in league. This loss has large implications for the rest of the season, as the Eagles have lost their league lead to Monta Vista, who to date has only lost one match.
The Eagles hope to return to top form and resume the kind of play that propelled them to first place in league when they take on Cupertino this Thursday, April 4.
