The girls varsity field hockey team played Lynbrook today, October 22. Lynbrook managed to score one goal in the first half, and a second goal in the final 50 seconds of the game, defeating Los Altos 2-0.
“If we scored goals in the first half of the game, we would feel less panicked,” junior Mehr Singh said. “We normally keep the score tied until the second half, when we lose morale.”
The Lady Eagles put up a good fight, but struggled to come together offensively and score against Lynbrook.
“People did not guard the players when they were near the goal, which allowed them to easily get a goal off,” junior Marina Cunningham said. “Everyone expected someone else to go to the ball yet no one did.”
Despite this, the players worked hard, and junior Nicole Atkins particularly stood out as one of the strongest players of the game, due to her careful handling and dribbling.
The team hopes to continue working on “being more aggressive and playing with greater intensity,” for future games. They plan on recovering quickly for the upcoming game against Los Gatos at home on Thursday, October 24.
