Last Tuesday, September 16, in its second game of the season, the girls field hockey team lost 0-1 to Live Oak High School.
Throughout the first half, action went back and forth, and no team showed dominance over the other. Each team would gain possession of the ball, only to give it up very quickly.
By the time of the second half, the score remained unchanged. Both teams were playing an evenly matched game, and both teams had an equal number of unconverted scoring opportunities.
During the second half, Live Oak broke up the scoreless game, shooting a goal into Los Altos’ net. Although Los Altos gave up a goal during this period, the team continued to play consistently and steadily throughout the majority of the game.
“It was a pretty evenly matched game, however we were just unable to score and defend properly in our circle,” junior captain Nicole Atkins said.
Los Altos field hockey faces their first league match versus Lynbrook on Tuesday, September 24 and stays hopeful and confident for the future.
