Powderpuff football kicked off today with the seniors versus the sophomores. The action started almost as soon as the game began with the senior Elena Strawn making the first touchdown only six minutes into the game.

The language is different, the buildings look different and even the air seems to smell different. In fact, your family is different and you will be living with them on this strange and foreign planet for the next six months. That is exactly what junior Thomas Maurer did.
Today, September 30, varsity girls tennis came away from its match against Gunn with its second win of the season. The team finished with a record of 5-2, winning three of its singles matches and two of its doubles matches.
Last Friday and Saturday, September 26 and 27, the girls water polo team participated in the Amanda MacDonald tournament. Many tough teams competed in the tournament, including private powerhouses like St. Francis and Castilleja and De Anza league opponents Los Gatos and Palo Alto.
The first cross country SCVAL meet took place on Tuesday, September 23, in Central Park in Santa Clara. The course in Central Park is relatively flat compared to many of the other courses, and the temperature was warm but not too hot: perfect for a race.
On Wednesday, September 24, the Libros Sin Fronteras book club held a kickoff event in the library. The club is an international book club that trades books with a sister school, Escuela Preparatoria 19, in Guadalajara, Mexico. The schools exchange books to read and later discuss, switching between books in English and Spanish.
Last Tuesday during Tutorial, the senior class voted on its top 10 Homecoming Court nominees in the large gym. 25 first round nominees were chosen and notified later that week.
On Tuesday, September 23, the varsity girls water polo team took on Los Gatos High School in its third game of the season. The Wildcats defeated Los Altos 5-1.
