The cross country team competed in SCVAL finals on Tuesday, November 4, at Crystal Springs. Both the boys and girls teams had top three finishes.
The varsity boys team placed third and were only three points away from taking second. The team had many strong finishes, including ones by juniors Ben Zaeske, Andreas Godderis and Kevin Anawalt, who placed second, third and eighth respectively. The girls team placed second, continuing and improving upon its third place finish last year. Junior Lauren Jacob placed third and sophomore Katie Klein placed eighth, and six Los Altos girls placed in the top twenty.
This was the last event of the season for the majority of the team’s runners, and it ended on a high note, with 30 of the team’s runners running their personal best times. The top seven runners for both boys and girls will advance to the CCS finals which take place on Saturday, November 15. Last year, both teams finished third in CCS finals, and they look to place well again.
“I think both teams, both guys and girls did really well yesterday,” Andreas said. “There were a lot of people with [personal records]. And I think we are ready to do well in CCS.”
