Badminton Beats Homestead 22-8

After moving down to the lower De Anza Division this year, the badminton team defeated Homestead High School 22-8 in its first league match of the season on Thursday, March 15.

The number one boys singles player freshman Louis Hinnant, who is also nationally ranked, won 15-6 and 15-4 against his opponent. Number one girls singles player senior Jasmine Xu won her matches 16-14 and 15-9.

“In terms of the future, I think varsity will do really well in the upper leagues,” varsity member junior Wilson Chen said.

Last year, the badminton team played in the upper division and although it did well with the new challenge, the members moved back down to their current division. The team is now rolling through teams, such as Homestead, and looking forward to the challenges ahead.
